How to Avoid Scammers
Here's a question that has been asked a dozen different ways...
"My biggest concern is how do I figure out who to take advice from? As a newbie, many of us spend a lot of money buying programs and other stuff that¹s fluff. Are there indicators that let us know what is good and what is junk? Thanks and have a blessed day!"
Check out my video reply...

Great question and great answer. As an executive recruiter since the early 1990's, it's been my job to separate the wheat from the chaff for hundreds of paying clients
I call the process of researching a person's true quality "peeling the onion"...in other words, layer by layer you find out more about the person and whether they're worthy
Take Joel for instance....first layer, he developed a site that Yahoo thought was worth buying...second layer, he wrote a book that was a New York Times best seller....third layer, he created the Next Internet Millionaire....credibility presents itself...it's an interesting CV to read
What I'm saying is that you need to peel the onion of those that you're scrutinizing, layer by layer. You'll be amazed at how much better perspective you receive by adding just a little more due diligence
Be your best and love your life

Great video Joel. I have been following Joel's advice for almost a year now.
As to the opportunists, they are the ones who are more interested in selling you someone else's products all the time. They never offer any relevant free advice such as these videos by Joel, and they do not have any opinions of their own.
Thanks Joel.

Great video on scammers. I just googled "Joel Comm" I see many who claim you are a fraud. Hmmm...I know you are not, but just like politicians and celebrities once you get to the top you take the hits deserved or not.

A valid question and a very good response from Joel. In addition to research I look at the credibility and integrity of the person making the introduction or referral. I also employ the attitude or tactic, if you have any doubts then don't buy it. I know I might miss out on something good but I am not being burned on several bad things.
Hope this helps.

Great video Joel. Good work and keep it up.
When I research someone I not only do so on the person but their site as well. If someone says their product will do something (say better rankings) for a website. I go and do a keyword search of the sites and if that person ranks poor for their sites then I won't buy their product. Yes that is based on a true research I did on a person when I was considering buying their product.
Then today I read a post from a blog owner who said the exact software I had considered buying did them harm rather than help.
That made me so glad I did not fork out money and had stopped to do maybe 5 or 10 minutes of research.

Thanks to you, as a newbie, I am becoming more comfortable, more aware, and more knowledgable as I become more and more acquainted in the Internet society. Please keep your advice and humor coming! I'm not sure where I would be without both. Another "Next Internet Millionaire" show? Thank you, Joel. By the way, "kudos" to your Mother. She obviously did a wonderful job!

Wonderful advice and well explained for newbies.
There is certainly alot of fly-by-night stuff out there that does nothing to benefit beginners who are trying to achieve something for themselves.

Hi Joel,
This is really good advise, but sometimes, as a Newbie you get this information too late or if you do get it and try to find out more about these people and if it is really 'A BIG BAD DUCK' then the search really begins --some of these people have so much connections to so many 'off-shore' companies in so many different parts of the world that no Newbie will find out anything about them - in fact they will even become so impressed with what is shown that they sign-up believing that this was 'the real thing'.
However, like you said, after you have been around for a while, you start to learn more and surely you get to know some names of who can offer or help you the real way, and also the ones who are not worth the 'salt in your coffee'!!
Again thanks.
Bona.

Hi Joel,
Thanks for more excellent advice together with the cool flash of graphics. My favourite is the duck that ends up getting cooked.
You are absolutely right when you say there are a lot of opportunists out there who copycat somebody elses product and try to ride the wave. When you are online for a while, you tend to identify these very quickly e.g. those pertaining to video sites and video marketing.
Looking forward to your next video.

Great Points.
The one thing that you have to be careful of here is that you can always learn something.
But you should make sure you get your best bang for your buck.
But it could be one good idea could make you a fortune, so give it a look and if it's garbage get your money back.

I wish I had half the money back that I have wasted on crap. Hard lessons but lesson finally learned. Thanks Joel, could have used this a while back but thanks for re-enforcing this.

Hi,
That is so true about copycats out there. There was a traffic generation product once out there, and it had testimonials, when i looked at some of their sites that used this, the say alexa stats were not that great nor where they doing that well in google.
But i suppose if the product is over hyped or doesnt work for you, and there is a refund offered, then take it.
thanks,

Great advice Joel, you have to be a bit careful and alert especially when they call themselves the secret this and the secret that, and use celebrity's names instead of their real name.
I always do a search on all the programs that look interesting. Even though I haven't bought anything for five years online because I have ways of getting the information I need for free.
Kind regards

I bought a product that I had problem with and asked for refund and it was membership monthly too. This was the most time sucking experience in my life. I repeated my question for refund 3-4 times and guess what, NO answer until I asked if I had to turn to PayPal for help. This time I received my refund, but it took me two weeks and loads of anxiety and now I have hard time to trust...
This is sad when such things happens... It sucks...
All the best,
Ulla
